The classification was considered necessary for the systematic and systematic study of elements.

Now 118 elements have been discovered.

Out of these, 92 elements are found in the free state in nature and the remaining elements have been prepared by scientists by artificial methods.

The scientist named Berzelius first classified the elements into metals and non-metals on the basis of the properties of the elements.

But this classification did not prove to be very useful, due to the following reasons. 

Both graphite and iodine are non-metals, but still have a metallic luster.
