“I Am Sam is a movie that came out many years ago, and I watched it when I was young, and it resonated with me,” Gardner said, referring to her brother, who has autism. “Something clicked, and I thought, ‘Oh, this movie is helping me understand my life better.’ It just made me want to be a part of that kind of magical experience.”
